Registration for 2022 Farm Programs is Open!

2022 Program Sign up is here! We have opened program registration for two of our season-long programs, the Home Apothecary Program and Certificate Program in Regenerative Agriculture. The Home Apothecary Program will start Saturday, March 12 and offer students a hands-on introduction to using herbs medicinally. The Certificate Program in Regenerative Agriculture will give students a deeper understanding of regenerative agriculture, with a priority application deadline of Tuesday, March 1, with classes starting on April 3 and April 8/9.

We have also opened application for our City Farmers program, with sessions starting in March. Our CSA registration is open as well, with options for weekly, biweekly, or monthly pickup as well as fruit, meat, egg, and cheese add-ons.

Save-the-Date for our upcoming cocktail party on Thursday, March 24, 6:30 - 8:30 pm at Compass Coffee's warehouse in Ivy City! This event will be a joint fundraiser for Common Good City Farm and An Indivisible Art Collective, an art education non-profit based in Trinidad/ Ivy City that is working to start an urban farm.

Be sure to join us for our upcoming Pop-up Farm Markets on Sunday, February 27 and Saturday, March 19 from 1-3 pm as well.

Welcome Nia

We are so excited to welcome Nia Kiara Cole to the Common Good City Farm team! Nia will be joining us as a Farm Educator to teach the Certificate Program in Regenerative Agriculture course.

Nia's interests in farming began at an early age, spending her childhood summers on her grandfather's farm in North Carolina.

Throughout her graduate studies and personal experiences, Nia developed a passion for connecting the communities disproportionately affected by food deserts with fresh, healthy, and organic foods. After witnessing the drastic food shortages at the beginning of 2020, Nia attended the Ecoversity to obtain a certification in Permaculture Design, with the long-term goal of revitalizing the family farm in North Carolina.

They enjoy being outdoors, healthy and nutritious eating, gardening, and learning and teaching others about all aspects of sustainable and regenerative agriculture. And therefore couldn't be more ecstatic to join the Common Good team to pass along and exchange this knowledge and love of local farming.

We explore the garden, learn about food and cook recipes together. We'd love to have you join us. Find more info and download the registration form here. Class is on Thursdays and Sundays on the farm from 4:30-5:45.

We are back in person after a holiday and January break. We started back strong with both a Lunar New Year lesson where we made stir fry noodles and a Black History Month lesson about Chef Edna Lewis where we read this book and made skillet apple pie!

We hope to see your kids on the farm soon! February will feature more Black History Month lessons, a lesson on cooking with herbs, youth garden planning and much more!
