F.R.E.S.H Fridge & Pantry

What is it?

The community fridge, located at 300 V Street, NW, is an initiative aimed at providing free, fresh, and healthy food to local families in need. The fridge will be stocked with donations from local farms, grocery partners, and community members.

Origin Story

F.R.E.S.H. Fridge (Feeding Residents Every Single Hour) began as a response to neighborhood hunger and the desire for community-controlled food access through partnership with Common Good City Farm x Roots for Life. Initially inspired by mutual aid initiatives during the pandemic, the current structure was opened on November 22, 2024 and after a year of active use and engagement, we are building more community stewardship from a network of neighbors, youth, local partners, and mutual aid organizers.

In these unstable times, mutual aid and community defense work are not just important, they are essential.
