Faces of the Farm ~ Meet Ben!

Ben has been coming to Common Good City Farm, which is located right next to his apartment, since it’s opening in LeDroit Park in 2009. Stop by the farm and you may see him reclining at one of the picnic tables, ready to make lively conversation with any of our staff, volunteers, or visitors. “I didn’t think a farm was going to last that long here,” Ben says with a chuckle, “but I am happily surprised that is has!” Ben, who used to work on farms in his younger years, thinks that having fresh vegetables is a boon for the community. “Its nice for the neighbors,” he says. Ben enjoys coming to the farm for the produce. Greens, cherries, and beach plums are his favorite. “I love coming to the farm, seeing the beautiful smiles.” Ben says, “Everyone here is friendly and helpful—just open-hearted, down-to-earth, and welcoming people.” And we love having Ben stop by to brighten our day! -- One of the most compelling elements of Common Good is the sense of community that is being fostered on the farm. At any given time one can see faces, young and old, from different backgrounds, gathered on the farm to lend a hand, attend a workshop, and engage in a lively conversation. We want to share some of these faces with you. Each week we will take a moment to learn a little bit more about our community members. We hope you will visit us and become one of our Faces of the Farm. Every Friday we will feature a new "face of the farm."
